STL’s Dr. Richard Burrows Receives ACIL’s Preston Millar Award for 2006

Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc. (STL) is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Burrows, Corporate Director of Technical Services, was recently honored with the Preston Millar Award, by the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) on October 9, 2006 at San Antonio, TX.

Dr. Burrows was recognized for his dedicated leadership and special contribution to the organization, especially to the Technical Subcommittee of the Environmental Sciences Section.

Preston Millar Awards are presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the success of ACIL over the past years. Dr. Burrows has served as Chair of the Environmental Sciences Section (ESS) Technical Subcommittee for the ACIL since 2002. As Chair, Dr. Burrows provides leadership and organization to the committee in pursuit of ACIL’s objectives in its mission of advancing high standards of ethics, quality, and integrity for analytical methods and quality control procedures.

"The ACIL ESS Technical Subcommittee provides a process for bringing consensus positions from the commercial laboratory community to the attention of EPA and other regulators. Our combined voice is much more powerful than any individual laboratory could be, and I’m proud to be able to help develop and communicate industry concerns and ideas," said Dr. Burrows.
