STL’s Dr. Richard Burrows Speaks at Regional U.S. EPA Quality Assurance Conference

Dr. Richard Burrows of Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc. (STL), nationally recognized for his technical expertise, will speak on various analytical technologies for perchlorate analysis at the U.S. EPA’s 16th Annual Quality Assurance Conference on October 16-20, 2006 in Dallas, TX.

The presentation will focus on the pros and cons of alternative technologies when selecting a method for perchlorate analysis, particularly with regard to complex and challenging matrices. Corporate Director of Technical Services, Dr. Burrows said, “The EPA and DoD have published a wide variety of methods for the analysis of perchlorate recently. It can be challenging to select the technology that will provide the most reliable results for a specific situation. This paper will describe factors to consider in the selection of a method, and also discuss QC requirements for a performance based method.”

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 serves the local state governments of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and 65 Indian Tribes, enforcing environmental regulations from the Agency.

Dr. Burrows has supported the validation of EPA draft methods and is an associate member of the International Technology & Regulatory Commission Committee on Perchlorate. Dr. Burrows is responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in quality and productivity of all analyses and operating procedures for STL in the United States.
