STL’s Dr. Chin Yang Presents at Technical Conference

Dr. Chin Yang of Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc. (STL), along with Dr. Phil Morey of Boelter & Yates, held an intensive four-hour laboratory session at the Louisiana Water Environment Association’s (LWEA) Spring Technical Conference. The presentation covered the assessment and solutions for microbial contamination in the areas distressed by natural disasters.

The Spring Technical Conference took place April 27, 2006 at the West Baton Rouge Conference Center, Port Allen, LA. The focus of the presentation was "Microbiological Sampling and Testing in the Natural Disaster Response."

The mission of the Louisiana Water Environment Association (LWEA) is to protect, promote, and enhance the water environment. The organization offers members a venue for professional growth and development while sharing information, expertise and resources with members, the public, and others concerning environmental water issues.

Dr. Chin Yang, an internationally recognized expert of Indoor Air Quality, earned his BS and MS degrees from Tunghai University in Taiwan and a PhD from State University of New York (SUNY), College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. He was an Anna E. Jenkins Post-doctoral Fellow in Mycology at Cornell University and published and described numerous new fungal genera and species. Dr. Yang is actively involved with training across the nation through his association with the Mid-Atlantic Environmental Hygiene Resource Center (MEHRC) and various other organizations. As the Chief Technical Officer of STL affiliate Aerotech P&K, Dr. Yang continues to provide leadership in research, development, and application of new technology for microbial sampling and testing.
