Chemical Analysis of Sediments - 'Sediments are more than wet dirt'

Event Announcement

Tuesday, Nov 15, 2016

Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - 1:30 P.M. EST

About This Webinar:

What are sediments and are they really different than wet dirt?  Are soil or water analytical methods more appropriate for sediments and does it matter?  These questions and more will be the topic of discussion as we explore the world of sediments as they relate to your environmental projects.

Sediments can be considered different than terrestrial soils in many environmental projects.  The chemical analysis of sediments can offer many challenges for project teams including matrix issues and project specific reporting limits.  Sediment projects can also include the need for specialized sediment testing support including the generation of pore water, leachates and/ or elutriates to support the project specific objectives.

This presentation will review many of the challenges of sediment projects and how a laboratory can work with the project team to support the project specific goals of the sediment site.

Topics Presented:

  • How sediments are different than soils
  • Unique Challenges that sediments pose
  • Contaminants of Concern
  • Sediment specific methods and project customization
  • Pore Water, elutriates and the multiple matrices
  • Bioavailability and 'new' methods
  • Keys to a successful sediments project

A question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation. At the conclusion of each webinar, you will be asked for your feedback and opinions for future webinar topics to be developed by TestAmerica.
