Hydrogen Sulfide using Radiello Diffusive Samplers

Method Application:

Hydrogen sulfide is sampled using Radiello diffusive samplers, cartridge code 170, by being chemiadsorbed by zinc acetate and transformed into stable zinc sulfide. The sulfide is recovered by extraction with water in contact with an oxidizing agent, as ferric chloride in a strongly acid solution. It reacts with the N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylendiammonium ion to yield methylene blue. Quantification is performed by visible spectrometry at a wavelength of 665 nm.

Market Application:

Radiello diffusive samplers are designed for use in indoor air quality, outdoor ambient air quality, and worker exposure monitoring. Exposure duration is from 1 hour to 15 days with corresponding reporting levels of 200 ppb to 0.55 ppb at 25 degrees Celsius. The sampling rate varies with temperature and is invariant with humidity in the range 10 - 90% and with wind speed between 0.1 and 10 m s-1. Sampling is linear from 2,000 to 50,000,000 ppb min.

Advantages:

Radiello diffusive samplers offer lower detection limits and are less intrusive than active sampling methods requiring sampling pumps. No source of power is needed so they may be used in rural and remote locations. Diffusive samplers require no supervision, so they may be deployed and left unattended for the entire sample duration. They require no prior knowledge or training for use and come with easy to follow instructions.
