<p>TestAmerica has been invited by General Motors (GM) Company to
participate in an award-winning Global Rivers Environmental
Education Network (GREEN) program event hosted by Earth Force Inc.
The GM GREEN Water Monitoring event provides local students
hands-on experience to help assess, improve, and sustain their own
community's watersheds and water quality issues. The April
30th event will take place at Mill Creek near Volney
Rogers Middle School in Youngstown, Ohio. Students
fromVolneyRogersMiddle School andYoungstownChaneyHigh School will
participate.</p>

<p>The GM Lordstown site engineers in conjunction with Youngstown
University, and the Youngstown public school system have been
studying the local Mahoning River for five years. TestAmerica was
invited to demonstrate environmental field sampling and chemical
testing procedures, including analysis via a mobile laboratory and
data reporting.</p>

<p>The GM Foundation continues to invest in early education to
nurture future innovators in the areas of Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), with critical thinking,
teamwork, problem solving, and decision making skills. Partnering
with Earth Force (<a
href="http://www.earthforce.org/">www.earthforce.org</a>),
the&nbsp;GREEN program provides educators the tools to develop
engaging science programs around watershed assessment and
improvement. For more information, please visit <a

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>TestAmerica offers in-house capabilities to support the U.S.
EPA's Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF) Test
Methods.</p>

<p>The LEAF Test Methods represent a change from current leaching
assessment approaches. The methods comprise a suite of leaching
tests, which include batch, column, and tank tests. These methods
are pre-U.S. EPA SW-846 Methods that have not been released as
either draft or final SW-846 Methods. They are:</p>

<ul>
<li>Method 1313 "Liquid-Solid Partitioning as a Function of Extract
pH for Constituents in Solid Materials using a Parallel Batch
Extraction Procedure".</li>

<li>Method 1314 "Liquid-Solid Partitioning as a Function of
Liquid-Solid Ratio for Constituents in Solid Materials using an
Up-flow Percolation Column Procedure".</li>

<li>Method 1315 "Mass Transfer Rates of Constituents in Monolithic
or Compacted Granular Materials using a Semi-dynamic Tank Leaching
Procedure".</li>

<li>Method 1316 "Liquid-Solid Partitioning as a Function of
Liquid-Solid Ratio for Constituents in Solid Materials using a
Parallel Batch Extraction Procedure".&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<p>TestAmerica is committed to providing timely and relevant
analytical testing services to the nation's coal-fired electric
power fleets, and to firms engaged in the business of beneficially
using coal combustion products in commerce. TestAmerica is a member
of the Edison Electric Institute, the Utility Solid Waste
Activities Group, and the American Coal Ash Association.</p>

<p>"TestAmerica Nashville's experience, under Mr. Johnny Mitchell
and Mr. Michael Dunn in support of EPA's Inter-laboratory
Validation Study of Methods 1313 and 1316, has expanded
TestAmerica's ability to support these techniques. At the
Pittsburgh location, under the direction of Mr. Larry Matko,
Technical Director, and Mr. Rick Sheets, Soil Scientist, we have an
experienced team of chemists, chemical engineer and geochemist, who
have led the implementation and commercial offering of all four of
these new leaching methods at our facilities to our clients," adds
Rusty Vicinie, General Manager.</p>

EPA LEAF Test Methods, please contact Ms. Patricia McIsaac at <a

<p>Dr. Douglas Weir, TestAmerica West Sacramento's Quality
Assurance Manager, will present on analytical impacts for testing a
new class of emerging contaminant compounds at the 2012
Environmental Monitoring and Data Quality (EMDQ) Workshop. The
presentation will be given on March 28, 2012 in La Jolla,
California.</p>

<p>The technical sessionDoD Emerging Contaminantscovers the
revolutionary method developments for detecting and quantifying new
contaminants of concern. Dr. Weir will highlight the latest
challenges and limitations of traditional analytical methods for
atypical matrices. A comprehensive review of analytical techniques
required to produce significant data, in addition to the issues
regarding detection limits based upon the availability of
commercial standards and instrumentation, will also be
discussed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr. Weir has over 20 years of experience in the environmental
testing industry. He completed his postdoctoral work at the
National Research Council of Canada and the Department of Energy's
Radiation Laboratory at Notre Dame, before entering into the
commercial environmental industry. In subsequent years, Dr. Weir
has worked in laboratories across Canada and the United States,
specializing in non-routine analytical testing. His work has
primarily focused on emerging contaminant analysis, including
pharmaceuticals, hormones, and brominated diphenyl ethers. As
TestAmerica West Sacramento's Quality Control Officer, Dr. Weir's
contributions continue to lead in the development of rigorous
testing protocols for new contaminant analyses to assure accurate
and defensible results.</p>
