TestAmerica’s Drinking Water Program

Drinking Water

Drinking Water Capabilities

TestAmerica supports local, city and municipal drinking water suppliers with a full suite of drinking water methods that meet the requirements for regulated compounds under the Safe Drinking Water Act.  Our suite of analyses includes both routine and specialty analyses, including emerging contaminants such as Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), and more complex drinking water parameters such as dioxins. TestAmerica was among the first commercial analytical laboratories to offer PFAS testing in potable water samples. Testing for low-level 1,4-Dioxane, perchlorate, disinfection byproducts and radionuclides is also available.

Providing routine drinking water analyses for commercial entities, government agencies and utility providers is one of TestAmerica’s core service offerings. Twenty one of TestAmerica’s laboratories are certified to analyze potable water samples. Utilizing EPA and Standard Methods approved for drinking water samples, our trained analysts produce quality data that adheres to the strict state and federal regulatory guidelines. Routine drinking water analyses include volatiles, semivolatiles, metals and various wet chemistry parameters such as turbidity, fluoride, chloride and total organic carbon.

Drinking Water Experience Case Study

TestAmerica is the primary laboratory supporting a large-scale drinking water program for a major California utility company. Required analyses fall under EPA Title 22 regulations, many of which are conducted under 24-hour turnaround time conditions.  TestAmerica orchestrates a statewide sample transport system, picking up samples at various locations in the state and delivering them to the lab within time to address short hold-time parameters.  Project specific communication standards have been developed to immediately notify the client for any positive results, including weekends and holidays.  Five different report types are needed as dictated by project specific requirements.
