The Analysis of Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) Including PFOS and PFOA

Tuesday, December 13, 2016 - 1:30 P.M. EST

About This Webinar:

In 2006, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) announced the PFOA Stewardship Program to phase out the emissions and use of long-chain perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) by December 31st, 2015.  In addition, the US EPA and state agencies have developed health based advisories and screening levels as these chemicals are persistent, bio accumulative and toxic.  The chemistry and analysis of PFASs are unique, interesting and challenging.

In this presentation, we will discuss PFAS generation, formation and environmental release, as well as the current regulatory status of these chemicals.

Topics Presented:

  • Historical Overview
  • Sources and Formation
  • Chemistry and Structures
  • Environmental Exposure Pathways
  • Toxicity and Risk
  • Regulatory Progress and Current Status
  • Current Analytical Methodologies - strengths and challenges
  • Sample Collection Guidance
  • Treatment and Remediation

Who Should Attend?

  • Consulting and Engineering firms
  • Environmental professionals currently working on sites with PFAS concerns
  • Environmental professionals looking for more knowledge about PFASs

A question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation. At the conclusion of each webinar, you will be asked for your feedback and opinions for future webinar topics to be developed by TestAmerica.
