Treatability 102: Case Study – Drinking Water Treatment Evaluation for T&O, PFAS, PPCPs & DBP Precursors

Event Announcement

Tuesday, Apr 30, 2019

About This Webinar:

Between August of 2018 and April of 2019, TestAmerica ASL participated in a large-scope bench-scale treatability study focused on various drinking water treatment evaluations and technology comparisons. These evaluations were performed for two separate reservoirs in parallel for a direct comparison of both sources. The treatment technologies were also evaluated in parallel for a direct comparison of the effectiveness of ozonation, nanofiltration, UV/AOP and GAC adsorption (filtration) for the destruction/removal of various contaminants of concern including taste & odor compounds (T&O), perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), trace pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), 1,4-dioxane, as well as various general chemistry parameters. Following each treatment evaluation, a series of Simulated Distribution System (SDS) tests were conducted to simulate chlorination for comparison of Disinfection Byproduct (DBP) formation including trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) and the effectiveness of the treatments’ precursor removal/reduction.
This webinar will provide an in-depth review of a large-scope treatability study. It will present the general experimental designs, methodologies, as well as the outcomes and comparisons of analytical results.

Topics which will be covered:

  • Case study for a large-scope bench-scale treatability project including:
    — Baseline Water Quality Characterization
    — Clarification (alum and PaCl)
    — Ozonation
    — Nanofiltration
    — UV/AOP
    — GAC Filtration/Adsorption
    — Simulated Distribution System (SDS) tests and DBP Formation

Who Should Attend?

  • • Environmental Consultants
    • Process Engineers
    • Design Engineer Companies
    • Drinking Water Engineers
    • Consulting Engineering Firms
    • Manufacturers of Water Treatment Chemicals/Media
    • Municipal Water Agencies

A question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation. At the conclusion of each webinar, you will be asked for your feedback and opinions for future webinar topics to be developed by TestAmerica.
