PFAS: Advanced Discussion, Part 4

Event Announcement

Tuesday, Oct 13, 2020

About This Webinar:

With a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), where they come from, and why we are concerned with them, we can dive into the next level of the discussion in our series on PFAS.

In the emerging contaminant environment, we have a number of rapidly evolving parameters to stay abreast of, and to incorporate into our assessments. Our webinar will discuss many of these, and will provide information to address a number of questions, including: how do the unique characteristics of these chemicals cause them to behave in the environment? What implications does this have on the development of our conceptual site models, analytical approaches, and treatment technologies?

What is the current regulatory climate, and how does this impact our choices and decisions? We will take a look at USEPA’s progress on addressing these contaminants, and where the gaps in regulatory guidance impact our approach to site investigations.

With the ubiquitous and persistent nature of these chemicals, we find that their presence is widespread, including in complex matrices. The typical complex matrix challenges, along with the unique chemistry of these chemicals, present significant challenges in acquiring representative data.

Complex issues like the presence of precursors will impact site remediation and future decisions around site closure. These issues and others, such as significant cost and limited treatment options, are being evaluated and expanded upon today.

A question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation. At the conclusion of each webinar, you will be asked for your feedback and opinions for future webinar topics to be developed by  Eurofins Environment Testing America (EETA).
