Current Trends in Dioxin Analysis and Data Use

Tuesday, August 1, 2017 - 1:30 P.M. EDT

About This Webinar:

Interest in Dioxin contamination and analysis continues today, even as Dioxin emissions gradually decline under more and more rigorous regulatory control. Current interest focuses on reservoirs of Dioxins such as untreated sediments and waste sites associated with legacy historical activities. Meanwhile, the potential for trace levels of Dioxins to occur in food and consumer products still generates concern for various public health stakeholders. Current regulatory policy and our understanding of health impacts are largely based on the EPA’s Dioxin Reassessment document finalized in 2012. Although completion and release of sister documents regarding Dioxin carcinogenicity and control and reduction of Dioxin emissions and exposure are still pending, the non-cancer Dioxin Reassessment established safe doses of human Dioxin exposure and provides a framework for ongoing policy development and improved risk mitigation.

The presentation will provide an overview of some of these regulatory dynamics and discuss some of the recent trends in evaluation of Dioxin data, including increased assessment of 'Dioxin-like' PCB congeners, utilization of Dioxin analytical data to assist forensic evaluations, and improvements in analytical methods. The presentation will also address frequently asked questions regarding fundamental aspects of sample collection and Dioxin analysis.

Topics Presented:

  • Regulatory Changes
  • Dioxin-like PCB Congeners
  • Use of Dioxin data
  • Sample collection and analysis fundamentals
  • Advances in analytical methodology

Who Should Attend?

  • Consultants and Engineers
  • Regulatory Officials
  • Data Validators

A question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation. At the conclusion of each webinar, you will be asked for your feedback and opinions for future webinar topics to be developed by TestAmerica.
