About This Webinar:

In order to establish appropriate Data Quality Objectives (DQOs) for the measurement of target analyte concentrations in environmental samples, a user of laboratory services should have some grasp of the quantification techniques used to evaluate them. Depending on the importance and end use of the data, a requestor of laboratory services can generally choose from several test method options which can provide both the internal evidence of data quality and confidence in the technical numbers being acquired. The higher the stakes of a project, the better the system of quantification and documented defensibility the data needs to have.

This presentation will provide an evaluation of some standard means of looking at environmental sample data derived from instrumental methods. The regions of a standard calibration curve will be evaluated to show the “hard quantification” areas verses the “estimated” areas of data acquisition. Additional data quality measurements will be discussed which are intended to assist the user of laboratory services request testing services with some understanding of the laboratory approach that will be utilized. The presentation should also help the seasoned project manager sharpen his communication with the laboratory services provider so that effective testing strategies are devised. The analytical laboratory procurement process should not be a black box of services to its users.
