Treatability 101: What is a Treatability Study? Aug. 2018

Tuesday, August 14, 2018 - 1:30 P.M. EST

About This Webinar:

A treatability study is a carefully designed laboratory-scale experiment that is intended to mimic full-scale conditions as closely as possible. These studies are conducted in order to rapidly and cost effectively obtain real data on the effectiveness and/or efficiency of the treatment process in question, determine required engineering values (pressure, flow, temperature, mixing energy, etc.), optimize/determine required treatment chemical dosages and/or pHs, and chemical compatibility in order to design, optimize or troubleshoot full-scale processes. TestAmerica’s Treatability Research Center, located in Corvallis, Oregon, has over 40 years of experience in conducting treatability studies for a broad range of customers including municipal water and wastewater, commercial processes, site remediation, technology proof-of-concept, material compatibility, and more.

This webinar will provide a general overview of the various types of treatability studies and how they can be used for process evaluations. It will examine why treatability studies are performed, how they are planned, and how treatability studies can play a crucial role in successful operations from proof-of-concept, design, commissioning, and optimization.

Topics which will be covered:

  • Treatability Study Objectives
  • Water/Wastewater Treatment Categories
  • Jar Testing for Polymer/Coagulant Dose optimization and/or pH optimization
  • Disinfection/Oxidation Evaluations
  • Adsorptive Media Evaluations
  • Soil/Sediment/Waste Treatment Categories
  • Chemical oxidation treatment
  • Stabilization/Solidification
  • In-Situ Treatments
  • Custom Treatability Testing Design
  • Managing the Treatment/Data Collection Process

Who Should Attend?

  • Environmental Consultants
  • Process Engineers
  • Industrial Wastewater Engineers
  • Regulators
  • Remediation Companies
  • Design Engineer Companies
  • Drinking Water Engineers
  • Facility Managers
